- DRAWING PARALLEL LINES
These lines never cross.
- Draw a straight line.
- Put the hypotenuse of the isosceles set square on the line.
- Put the scalene set square on the other side.
- Hold the scalene set square in the place and move the isosceles set square up or down to draw a paralell line.
- DRAWING PERPENDICULAR LINES
These lines touch and make an angle of 90º.
- Draw a straight line.
- Put the set squares in the same position as for parallel lines.
- Turn the isosceles set square round and draw another line perpendicular to the first line.
- HOW TO DRAW ANGLES
We can use set squares to make angles of 15º, 30º, 45º, 60º, 75º, 90º ... in fact any multiple of 15.
- We can draw 30º, 45º, 60º y 90º angles directly.
- To draw a 15º angle, first draw a 45º angle with the isosceles set square. Then place the scalene set square on the new line and draw a 30º angle. The new angle will be 15º (45º - 30º).
- USING A PROTRACTOR
- Draw a line.
- Put the protractor on the line with the end of the line at the centre of the protractor.(A)
- Choose the angle you want and put a dot next to the number. (B)
- With a ruler, draw a line connecting A to B.
