ORGANISATION OF WORKSHOPS ACTIVITIES

  • The coordinator is responsible for organising the work of each group member to achieve efficient teamwork. This person represents the group.
  • The person responsible for the material collects the material needed for the work and is also in charge of recycling leftover material.
  • The person responsible for the tools look after the tools assigned to the group to make sure they are not lost or damaged.
  • The secretary collects, checks and organises all the written documents from each group member (plan, process reports, estimates, etc.).
  • The person responsible for health and safety makes sure that the group members follow the health and safety rules in the workshop and when using tools.
  • The person in charge of cleaning makes sure each workstation is left completely clean.

SAFETY


HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES

1. Health rules:
1.1 Tell your teacher immediately if you have any kind of accident (cuts, burns, dust in your eyes, etc.).
1.2 Keep your hands clean and dry. Keep your table clean and tidy while you work. Put your tools back to its right place at the panels when you are not using them.
1.3 Every time you finish a task, clean and tidy the workstation and the workshop.
1.4 Too much noise makes people irritable and aggressive and interrupts concentration. Try to work quietly.

2. General safety rules:
2.1 Don´t wear necklaces, rings or loose-fitting clothes. They may get caught in the machines.
2.2 Ask your teacher if you have any doubts.
2.3 Don´t waste materials and look after your tools.

3. Safety rules in the workshop:
3.1 Find out where everything is in the workshop - the exits and entrances, and the safety apparatus: fire extinguishers, alarm bells, protective clothing (glasses, gloves, etc.).
3.2 Obey signs. There are four types of signs: mandatory, danger, first aid and emergency, and prohibition.

4. Safety rules for tools:
4.1 Find out how to use each type of tool, equipment and machine correctly before you start. Don´t work with tools, equipment or materials you don´t know how to use.
4.2 Use the right tools for the right task.
4.3 Make sure tools are in perfect condition before you use them (check they aren´t broken, the handles are secure and that safety elements are in place).
